This was a mural commission which showcased the Alps through the seasons. We start in summer in the meadow scene foreground, then gradually move through spring in the field and town, and finish in winter at the mountains.
The client had asked for a skiing inspired mural to be painted over three panels and then installed in their garden. These were my initial sketch ideas to gain an idea of what sort of scene the client was looking for. I was inspired by vintage ski advertisements and signage.
From these sketches, the client decided they were looking for an alpine scene that would go backwards from summer to winter in the same image so that it would suit their garden at different times of the year. I then came up with the idea of an alpine meadow in bloom at the bottom of the mural, to a wintery ski town at the top.
