I was asked to create some illustrations which would be used across Mark Your Mark's advertising and brochures. They were looking for one large A3 size image showcasing different volunteering jobs, and then five A5 illustrations showing the volunteers in their specific scenario.
Above is the final A3 illustration, and below are the A5s. You can see the different roles of Gardener, Media, Archaeology, Archival and Tour Guide in the large scene and then in their individual illustrations.
These were my first round of roughs, which were okayed without changes for the next stage of outline and colouring.
Choosing the right colours was a slightly longer process, and the client decided against unrealistic colours and chose to keep them traditional in order to give the illustrations a more tangible feel. To distinguish between the different roles, they chose to have the people in a fun bubble of colour.
Below you can see how the illustrations were used by graphic designer Rachel Mayes in their flyers, banners and marketing.
